BlueLinx Acquires Building Products Distribution Business from Georgia-Pacific Corporation

May 10, 2004

(Atlanta) - BlueLinx Corporation today announced the completion of the acquisition of the assets of the Georgia-Pacific building products distribution business, a sale previously announced in March 2004. BlueLinx Corporation is a new company indirectly owned by members of the BlueLinx management team and Cerberus Capital Management L.P., a private New York-based investment firm.

"We are a new company, with a new name and ownership, but the things that are important to customers and suppliers haven't changed," said Chuck McElrea, CEO of BlueLinx, and former president of building products distribution for Georgia-Pacific. "As we move forward into this exciting new opportunity for growth, we will maintain our consistent and diligent focus on being the best building products distributor in the country and providing innovative solutions to our customers."

BlueLinx will provide customers with the superior service they've come to expect. Managing product and information flows throughout the supply chain, offering technologically savvy business practices, and creating a true sales and distribution partnership with customers and suppliers based on innovative and insightful ideas are all part of business at BlueLinx.

"We are more than just a distributor or a logistics company to our customers," continued McElrea. "Our sales teams reach deep into our customers' organizations and learn their business. We then build a comprehensive plan to truly manage their supply needs and provide distribution solutions."

The company distributes more than 10,000 building products in 14 categories from more than 1,600 supplier companies to customers nationwide. BlueLinx has a multi-year agreement to purchase structural panels, lumber and other building products manufactured by Georgia-Pacific and will be the exclusive distributor for select Georgia-Pacific-branded products.
